Scott Fitzgerald. The King House, located in Lake Forest, is known for being the home of Lake Forest socialite Ginevra King, the young woman what Fitzgerald fell in love with and who remained the muse of his writings throughout his life. Fitzgerald visited Lake Forest between 1915-1917, and his experiences here went on to inspire his descriptions of “high society” life in his writings. The King House was designed in 1905 by Chicago architect Howard Van Doren Shaw, creator of such prominent projects including Lake Forest’s Market Square and the 1900 remodel of Chicago’s Second Presbyterian Church. The King House has now been recently restored to its original quality by Jeanette and Danny Hodgkinson. Attendance is limited to 100 guests for this special event. Valet services, dining, beverages, and access to this private property are all included in the $100 price. Come and walk the halls, enjoy the grand gardens, and celebrate the beauty of Lake Forest that so heavily influenced Fitzgerald and his writings.
