In connection with the History Center’s 2025 exhibition Behind the Glamour: Inside (and Outside) F. Scott Fitzgerald’s Lake Forest, we are pleased to host Robert Garnett for a presentation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s writing career and social relationships. Mr. Garnett will take us through the most important influences on F. Scott Fitzgerald, from his first love, Ginevra King, to his final years in Hollywood with gossip columnist Sheilah Graham. Robert Garnett is Professor of English Emeritus, formerly the Graeff Professor of English at Gettysburg College. Mr. Garnett is the author of Charles Dickens in Love (Pegasus Books 2012) and most recently, Taking Things Hard: The Trials of F. Scott Fitzgerald (LSU Press 2023).
