This is a co-sponsored program in partnership with Wayfarer Theaters Martha Sleeper, a Lake Bluff native, was an actor in Hollywood in the late 1920s and 1930s. During this time, she appeared in over 40 comedy films for Hal Roach Studios, producer of Laurel and Hardy and Our Gang films. Martha proved to be an excellent comedian and support actress. In this exclusive, limited-space event, silent film comedy enthusiast Tom Suhs will provide historical and contextual information about Martha’s life and career in between the showing of three of Martha’s silent films: “Bad Boy,” “Sure Mike,” and “Pass the Gravy."
