Join us for the opening of our new exhibit "Modern in the Midcentury," which examines life, culture and design in 1950s Lake Forest and Lake Bluff. The exhibition explores the significant transformation of the midcentury suburban experience, through a look into the functioning of each room in the new modern home. We touch on how changes affected Lake Forest and Lake Bluff families of the time and set the course for our lifestyle today. Modern in the Midcentury will be open until November 1, 2024. This exhibit is supported by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services. Note that the History Center parking lot is unavailable due to construction for our Outdoor Historical Learning Gardens. Please visit our website for parking information during construction.
