This is a co-sponsored program in collaboration with Lake Forest College This panel discussion featuring current students at Lake Forest College will focus on the latest discoveries related to research on the history of Black presence at Lake Forest College. This research has been enabled by a grant awarded to the History Center and Lake Forest College from the National Archives. Panelists include second-year Payton Ross who conducted oral histories with Black alumni of Lake Forest College; second-year Emilce Mamani who researched and organized newspapers that addressed Black life in Lake Forest and at the College; and third-year Josh Marchbanks who researched within Lake Forest College’s archives and engaged with Black alumni. Students conducted (and continue) research through multiple pathways under supervision of Dr. Courtney Joseph and Dr. RL Watson of the African American Studies and History departments at Lake Forest College.
