This is a co-sponsored program in collaboration with Wisconsin Maritime Museum Join us on the afternoon of Thursday, February 13 as we welcome submarine service veterans and Wisconsin Maritime Museum volunteers Greg Miller and Chris Gaines. Greg and Chris, who both served on U.S. fleet submarines, will discuss Manitowoc, Wisconsin’s pivotal role in submarine construction on Lake Michigan, its operations and achievements during the Second World War, and the WWII Submarine Memorial located on Chicago’s Riverwalk. Greg and Chris will also give us an in-depth look at the USS Cobia, a historic, decorated World War II submarine credited with sinking more than a dozen enemy ships and today serves as the feature attraction at the Wisconsin Maritime Museum. USS Cobia is also currently in the fundraising stage to be brought into dry dock for a full inspection and preventative maintenance to ensure her longevity.
